Intriguing thoughts that reveal your perspective

 The Smoker

Three middle-aged men advise you to not smoke (because it gradually kills you), with just the same words - "Do not smoke!" The first is someone who has never smoked, the other, is a chainsmoker and finally the third, a former addict who later recovered. Who is capable of penetrating your mind the most?

I am not sure about you but I think each could, depending on what you are looking for.
  1. The non-smoker:
Living in a world with both smokers and non-smokers. He could make a decision early and more importantly keep it till the end. It should take a great understanding and foresight to never to have fallen into a sly provocative sure trap. He is capable of preparing others through warnings and directions as he found it himself when it was most necessary. The will power is the highlighted virtue of the man.

  2. The chainsmoker:
He smokes yet asks you not to smoke because only he truly knows what the path is destined for. He has lived through and is living through all the circumstances directly rooted to this one cause. He could experience all the pain and make all efforts to withdraw himself. His life could be an explicit warning.

  3. The former-addict:
He knows all three stages - non-smoker, smoker and quitter. He has experienced enough to convince you because he has positioned himself where he gets himself an eagle-eye view to judge and decide from all the possible stages of a person in terms of smoking.

Repeat..again..

Doing the same thing everyday, every time is monotonous with the colour - grey. Does life and its associates become so boring that you want to take the leap out of that loop and do something interesting? Or is it harder to break a habit? Sometimes, the excuse for not moving on is, "After ALL THIS TIME of being...!! How can I just get over it?" Is the human mind inclined to change?

Quit while you're ahead

Gambling is so dynamic that the multiplication factor of success is practically any number you can think of. The smart- quit is what makes you richer. If you have an extraordinary luck today and win all of today's games you have played, would you continue because maybe only today, will you have such extraordinary luck or, would you rather quit because you might have extensively used up all of today's luck.

The above can be similar to various incidents we have faced or will face. Too many questions already without answers? Allow me to share my perspective.

Comments

  1. The recovered addict would ideally be the one to convince me because of his/her experience and difficulty he/she would've faced during this time and also during recovery.
